While experiential therapies like psychodrama are typically a group method, they can be highly effective modalities when working with individuals and couples. In this training workshop, for professionals only, participants will be taught specific action methods techniques, such as sociometry, doubling and role reversal that can aid in the engagement process, help individuals and couples build trust, deepen affect and shift behavior to create a more meaningful life.
Because there will not be auxiliaries – or role players – available to play other people or parts of self, we will specifically explore techniques to utilize to allow for a full psychodramatic experience while working with these limitations. We will explore how to utilize yourself as a therapist, and how to best not take on transference in the process.
We will focus on issues such as:
Using props and chairs (in lieu of people) to represent other people or parts of self
Using doubling and role reversal effectively
Using art making and writing exercises that can be explored in action
Dealing with transference and countertransference issues
Emotional expansion and containment skills
Working within limited time frames
Please note that you must be able to provide verification of full vaccination (at least 2 weeks post your last shot) in order to attend any of our in person workshops or trainings.
